With the X Series Lenses, LUMIX is blending its own unique mix of broadcast video and advanced mirrorless camera technologies into a premium lens line. In several X Series models LUMIX blended forward looking features like advanced near silent Power Zoom (PZ Models) and advanced POWER O.I.S. support for improved video capture. The 12-35mm X lens features a professional grade constant aperture in a compact sealed body design suitable for professional studio photography. Nano Surface Coating

The LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 lens  incorporates Panasonic’s unique Nano Surface Coating technology which minimizes reflections through the entire visual range (380nm-780nm), resulting in a dramatic reduction of ghosts and flare for extremely clear picture quality.

Travel Light and Protected from Natures Elements

Boasting outstanding compactness, the LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 lens is approximately 73.8mm in length and 10.76oz in weight, resulting in extreme mobility.  Additionally with a rubber ring on the lens mount, the new lens is designed to stand against moisture and dust making it ideal for outdoor photography enthusiasts. A highly reliable metal mount endures long time use.

Professional Grade Glass

The LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 lens system is comprised of 14 lenses in 9 groups.  The UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) glass minimizes chromatic aberration while the UHR (Ultra High Refractive) lens realizes high descriptive performance from corner to corner.  Featuring high contrast and resolution from the center to corner at entire zoom range, the new LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm/F2,8 ASPH./POWER O.I.S. lens has the ability to capture the details of scenery or portrait with rich perspective.

Advanced Focusing and Aperture Blade Design

The lens’ superior inner focus system provides for excellent resolution and contrast without changing the overall length from full life-size magnification to infinity.  Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth defocus effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings.  When mounted on any LUMIX G Micro System camera body, users can take advantage of the high-speed, high-precisions Contrast AF (Autofocus) system.

POWER O.I.S. for Improved HD Video Support

The lens’ integrates POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) which effectively compensates for both small, fast movement and large, slow movement, making it easy to shoot extremely clear photos even in low-lit situations such as at night or indoors. Adopting an inner focus system driven by a stepping motor, the lens’ superior design provides smooth and near silent focusing action which is ideal for both picture and video recording.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Pictures, even at low light I bought a Lumix DMC-GH3 with a kit lens. The kit lens works great outside (in daylight), but the zoom was so limited, so I bought this LUMIX® G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 ASPH. Lens. I've used it for both pictures and video and have been very pleased by the quality compared to the kit lens. This past weekend I was asked to shoot some pictures for a church (in low light - no flash). I shot closeups of the band playing in practice, then during the meeting from a longer distance. The G X series works much better than the less expensive lens. The darker portions of the picture were still clear, not distorted due to low light (like my other lens). It's not a cheap lens, but I'd say it's worth the investment. I will say, it has a tendency to overexpose when using automatic settings, but the color and clarity are awesome. November 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely Versatile I have used this lens for 8 months now and it has hardly comes off of my camera, a GX7. The lens covers the range that is most useful to me and its fast F2.8 aperature and sharp results satisfy most of my shooting needs. November 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Must-have This is the perfect companion to a GH4. In the size of an APS-C SLR kit zoom, you get a very refined 2.8 zoom with real quality feel. It may not be the ideal match to a really compact body or if you really want to travel light (try 12-32 for that), but for most GH-series users, this is the standard zoom to have at a good price for what you get. f/2.8 may not give you massive dof control on m43, but it is more useful for everyday shooting that it is on a larger format DSLR and this lens is sharp wide open across the range and frame and with stabilization to really help the smaller format sensors in low-light. I wish it would to a clickless constant-aperture zoom-in in video mode and that Panasonic would offer a 2k f/2 OIS lens that one could dream about, but for most shooters, this is really the standard zoom to get. Rated 4 out of 5 excellent lens for all around use, but a bit expensive November 17, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Go To Lens This is my go to lens for everyday stills and video. November 17, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mixed feelings Overall good and versatile lens. One great disadvantage is that this lens is not parfocal, i.e. focus point is shifting when zooming. Also missing: extension tubes August 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best travel lens for m43 systems I bought this lens for my long Europe vacation. Took more than 5000 pictures using G6 body. Very versatile. It easily withstood wind, sand and occasional splashes. I am still working through the shots but already did not regret a single minute that I owned the lens. I am an amateur, but I noticed very little distortion. 12 mm comes very handy inside buildings, compared to 14 mm on most kit lenses. 35 mm/F2.8 actually produces nice bokeh. Downsides: (minor)I could not operate manual focus ring with hood parked on the lens. I had to either remove the hood or attach it in working position thus making the camera bulkier. And the larger one is that the lens does not have Lightroom profile. November 24, 2014
